Words are not needed.
Sometimes all I need is music to communicate.
A single sustained note of the cello, or the tinkling of arpeggios plucked out on a guitar.
Many say that the association of a song's lyrics or melody can sometimes cause tears to fall, or memories to suddenly surface.
But have you ever been moved to tears by the opening bars of a song you've never heard before?
I can tell you of 2 such songs that did that to me:
Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, and Blower's Daughter.
Both caught me off-guard.
Entirely, all of a sudden, for no rhyme, occasion or reason, I was swept away by the sheer beauty of the music.
And to another place.
Such songs are rare though.
So when one comes along... I hold it to my heart for just a little longer - the connection that unfamiliar music makes (without words) with my heart.
When will I find such a song again?
